Berlin Mutual Insurance Company History
The Company was organized by the residents of Berlin, Dover and LaMoille townships in Bureau County, Illinois and was called the Berlin Township Mutual Insurance Company. The first policies were issued on May 1, 1875. The company’s territory has grown from the three original townships to thirty counties in northern Illinois and has changed names twice.
We provide insurance coverage for farm and town property including farmowners, homeowners, mobile homes, dwelling fire, inland marine, livestock, boats, unlicensed recreational vehicles, farm and personal liability, and umbrella coverage. The policyholder has the choice of 1st Auto and Casualty Insurance Company or IMT Insurance Company to provide their liability coverage. Wisconsin Reinsurance Corporation provides the reinsurance coverage for the company.
